Dr. Şirin Gülcen EREN born in 1970, Edremit Balıkesir, Turkey. She is 1987 graduate of the Adana Anadolu Lycee. She had her City Planning Degree from the Middle East Technical University (METU) Faculty of Architecture Department of City and Regional Planning between 1987 and 1991. She had her Master Degree (1995) and Ph.D. Degree (2007) from the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences of the METU City and Regional Planning Program. Her doctorate thesis; "Impacts of Privatization on Urban Planning: The Turkish Case (Ankara)" has been awarded "Serhat Özyar Young Scientist Award 2008" which is a national award jointly given by the Chamber of Electrical Engineers (EMO), Science and Utopia Cooperative, and the Middle East Technical University (METU) Academicians’ Association.
